Thanks to the UN Verification Mission in Colombia for sharing with us those amazing days in the Carrizal ETCR.
Carrizal is one of the 24 ETCRs – Territorial Spaces for Training and Reincorporation – defined by the Colombian Peace Agreement signed in 2016 between the government and the armed group FARC. In the ETCRs, training and reincorporation activities are carried out in order to facilitate the initial phases of adaptation of the members of the former combatants to civilian life.
After three years, 50% of the camps will be closed. The Government is implementing a strategy for the transition of some of these areas that present difficulties in remaining in the current territories due to natural risks, limitations in access roads and in the provision of public services, and other factors.
